Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

With the use of the latest technology in the form of non-surgical spinal decompression, we are helping patients that suffer from chronic and severe low back pain, sciatica, stenosis, and herniated discs. But what exactly is non-surgical spinal decompression?

What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompression relieves pressure that builds up on the nerves and discs of your spine. The pain relief is a result of drawing areas of herniated discs back into place.

This is achieved by creating negative pressure within the disc, which is referred to as negative intra-discal pressure. Essentially, this creates a vacuum which draws the herniated and bulging disc material back into the disc space, thus relieving pressure.

Over a series of of visits, the cycles of decompression and partial relaxation promote the diffusion of oxygen, water, and nutrient-rich fluids from the outside of the discs to the inside. These nutrients enable the torn and degenerated disc fibers to begin to heal. When the ligaments that hold disc material in place become torn or stretched because of herniation or bulging, decompression strengthens the ligament bands that hold the disc material in place. This helps them to heal and prevents future recurrence.

For the majority of patients, there is a noticeable difference after 4-6 weeks of treatment. For more information, contact us or ask about spinal decompression during your next regular visit.

Spinal Decompression Therapy FAQs

What is spinal decompression therapy?

Non-surgical spinal decompression therapy with the SpineMed table is a non-invasive treatment designed to relieve back and neck pain caused by conditions such as herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis.

How does spinal decompression therapy work?

This advanced therapy involves gently stretching the spine using the SpineMed table, which creates negative pressure within the spinal discs. This process helps reduce pressure on the discs and nerve roots, promoting the retraction of herniated discs and facilitating the healing of damaged tissues. By enhancing the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the affected areas, spinal decompression can alleviate pain, improve mobility, and support overall spinal health without the need for surgery.

Who can benefit from spinal decompression therapy?

Individuals suffering from back pain, herniated or bulging discs, sciatica, or degenerative disc disease may benefit from decompression therapy.

How long will it take to see results from spinal decompression therapy?

The number of sessions varies based on individual needs and conditions. A typical treatment plan involves approximately 20 sessions over 4-6 weeks. Patients typically begin to see results within the first few weeks of treatment.

What are the side effects of receiving spinal decompression therapy?

Most patients do not experience any side effects and often sleep through the therapy. Some patients may experience dull aches and soreness in the first few weeks of treatment as it can take some time for your body to get accustomed to being stretched/decompressed.

Is spinal decompression therapy covered by insurance, and what are the costs?

It is best to call the office at (954) 472-7975 to verify your insurance coverage. Cash pay options are available if you don’t have insurance or if your insurance doesn’t cover treatment.
