Why You Must Move Around
Really pay attention to how much time you spend sitting today. Do you remember to take frequent breaks to move around?
We typically don't think about how much time we spend sitting. It is simply something we do. We sit in the car on the way to work, watching tv, at a desk in the office, etc. The reason it's so easy to sit for hours on end is because it is a sedentary activity. However, it can cause our backs to become strained leading to pain or discomfort much later. Too much sitting can also cause tightness in your hip flexors (which help you to move around comfortably.)
This is why you keep reading, hearing, seeing all of these things about the importance of keeping active throughout the day!
Get Up and Move
Sitting is an inevitable part of your day, so what can you do? Well, one of the best ways to avoid pain is to stay active. I don't, just mean working out. I am also talking about taking breaks to move throughout the day. Try not to sit for more than an hour at a time, and each hour, get up and take a quick walk around the office, outside, wherever you can.
If walking isn't your cup of tea, try a quick yoga session or going for a run instead.
It's Good for Your Health
Besides straining your back, sitting is also bad for your health. Sitting contributes to a variety of chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer. When you get up and move around, it's not only helping your back. It's helping your overall health as well.
In addition to taking breaks throughout the day to move around, try chiropractic. Chiropractic care helps keep your body functioning at its best. Give us a call to see how we can be of help.
